Virtually All You Need to Know About Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz is for the most part relative to the base chakra; but it can have inclusions and other quartz stone properties that may affect other chakras as well (read on to know more about which inclusions etc). Additional properties a such, will most commonly affect the sacral and solar plexus chakras. When worn, smoky quartz serves not only to guard one against negative energies, but also to protect against psychic attack. As well it's an effective grounding stone, which is invaluable to those working on spiritual growth and those in the metaphysical arts. Smoky quartz is most commonly grey or brown. Some pieces are nearly clear.

In most cases smoky quartz is a naturally produced stone. In instances though, quartzes of other colors are irradiated or even baked, to become smoky quartz. When shopping for it you may at times see a stone that is grey with a yellowish or greenish undertone, called smoky citrine quartz. It will serve you to know that in fact it's plain citrine quartz. Citrine quartz can have any of a wide array of colors, based upon yellow, yellow-green, amber, or orangey yellow. Sometimes it is primarily grey or significantly greyish; hence its title may include the word smoky.

Though it's not true smoky quartz, when gray it is understood to have the properties of both smoky quartz and citrine. Citrine's energies are sunny, bright, and strong, and support awareness; such properties augment the properties of smoky quartz in a practical way. With a yellow based undertone, smoky quartz is an ideal stone for applications in healing work.

Sidenote: The purpose of a seller referring to a stone as smoky citrine is not to mislead, but is dualfold. For one, it makes a less bright citrine better salable (i.e., to those looking for something that looks and acts like smoky quartz). This is prudent, as those looking for a citrine piece would not have interest in it due to its hue. Secondly, the stone's properties include all of those attributed to smoky quartz (and a few more), so it's in fact effectively titled that way, to help the right people find the right stone.

There are other types of smoky quartz too, for example they can be morion (black), or skeletal, they may contain rutile, or have spessartine garnets punctuating the exterior, and can even be smoky nirvana. Both skeletal and nirvana smoky quartz are higher than typical vibration for this stone, and as such are even more especially suited to those in the shamanic arts. Morion quartz, aka black quartz or black Tibetan quartz, has all of the properties of smoky quartz, but more concentratedly so. Hence when working magick that requires smoky quartz, when power is required over subtlety, go with morion quartz.

At times you will also find smoky amethyst, which is a great boon in working with habitual behaviours and also in dreamwork; additionally it will help one get a good night's sleep.

Concerning EMF radiations from computers and other appliances and technologies; smoky quartz helps alleviate them somewhat. Additionally, when detoxing, smoky quartz can be used in conjunction with other suitable stones, which may include selenite and or black tourmaline.

Smoky quartz works in a cyclic manner; it reaps stale energies and negativity from the surrounding environment then deposits said toxicity into the earth for recycling. The earth transforms the energies to a rightful state. This energy dynamic repeats ad infinitum. The energy flow is what keeps the stone cleansed; so when the energy flow stops an unknown factor is introduced. Does the remaining energy within the stone remain right there where it was, or does it move into the ground? As there is no way to tell for sure, periodic cleansing is recommended.

In magick, smoky quartz is an effective tool in hex breaking, magick reversal, protection magick, energy conversion magick, banishing, void magick, and baneful magick reversal. In the case of banishing, hex breaking, and void magick, its power can be is further augmented by crabgrass and or asafoetida. Furthermore, despite that many believe it to be wrong to adjust the will of another on any level, for those who don't buy into that, smoky quartz supports magick done to adjust a person's perspective; and then can be used in conjunction with selenite (to upgrade a perspective), or black tourmaline (to release an old viewpoint).

When a person is feeling down or out of sorts, this stone can be worn to alleviate that feeling and bring them back to centered, and will allow them to feel at peace again. Or, when a person who spends a significant amount of time around negative people they can't circumstantially move away from or ill people; again, this should be a stone of choice. Another thing is, some people are prone to saving those who are down and out. A stone like this helps keep the Samaritan's energies protected. Furthermore, animal rescuers and rescued animals would do well to wear this stone.

Smoky quartz is found globally, but the most significant mines are found in Brazil, Madagascar, Mozambique, Australia, Switzerland, and Scotland; and in the United States, in Colorado and New Hampshire.

By the way, there's often smoky quartz and morion quartz in my store, Rox 4 the Soul, on Etsy. Feel free to check it out.

Positive New Beginnings? What's Up With the Aces of Tarot?

The Tarot Aces

The Aces of tarot; they are considered by many to be parallel to the idea of having a portal open up to take us towards our respective objective. With aces, one's will is always part of the scenario; they must take the necessary steps and actions to move through that proverbial portal, otherwise the available energies won't take them too far.

But what if that's not how it is? What if it's not a positive new beginning, and furthermore, how does dignity (upright, reversed, etc) apply to reading aces? Is there even such a thing as an ace upright or reversed? Aah, now we are moving towards what I'm getting at...

In my humble opinion, an ace (i.e., any of the tarot aces) is the sign of a new beginning. It's not a good beginning nor a bad one, it's a beginning. Uninterfered with, universal energies are kind to us. But if we allow thoughts to interfere in a negative way, we'll see the beautiful and pure ace energy that opened up to us, become polluted. Yes, it's that simple; this is the primary message of the aces--to mind your thoughts if you want any or all of the things typically associated with the aces to avail themselves to you. If one manages to think thoughts that will serve and holds beliefs that will serve, that door remains open; energies will support their endeavors. The minute they let their mind roam to the negative side--SLAM! Okay, maybe that was a bit sensationalistic, but in fact, the positive energies start corrupting.

Before, I may have overgeneralized a tad in saying "all of the aces." In fact the Ace of Swords' message differs; this as by its very nature it includes the message already presented here. Thus when you see it, it leans more towards telling you, "okay, by now I should have your complete attention 'cause we've been here times before with similar lessons... walk this way please." Point being, that the Ace of Swords' nature is very much one of, "try something different this time"; the something different applies to matters of thought, intellect, and setting things straight (recovery).

Unfortunately though, in this world it's hard to control our thoughts, and as well we have to resist the negative thoughts passed onto us by others. Speaking of negative thoughts though, for some the layers of negative thinking are so deep, that they are not only hard to work through but are also hard to recognize. I recently heard someone say (in response to me labeling their thinking as negative on a topic), "no, I really don't think negatively, but my life experience has taught me to view things this certain way, because I KNOW what's going to happen based on this type of circumstance." Sadly, many of us have been in that place and have had to recover from that mindset. Onwards and upwards, as they say.

No Reversed Aces

Why no reversed aces? Oh you can read with them, it will serve its purpose. But in fact reversed or ill dignified aces don't make much sense, because the message of each ace already suggests for us to watch our thoughts on a topic. Ultimately, a reversed ace could only mean, to watch your thoughts and subsequent actions on whichever topic, so reversed aces serve as gross redundancies... either that, or in theory, an ace reversed could say that a problematic way of looking at a topic has been relegated to a past tense.

I really wanted to keep this post short and sweet, so that's enough to consider for today. Thanks.
